Flowing Rugby

Carmarthen Quins hit the road Sunday to Loughor for a round robin of fixtures against the hosts Loughor and Fall Bay. In near perfect conditions for rugby on a 4G surface the Quins side picked up where they left off the previous week.

Ably led by captain Matthew Stirling the Quins won the toss and started with the ball and slick passing along the lines and offloads before a tag was made saw flying machine Macs Hastings glide through defenders for the opening score. Loughor hit back straight away through some deft passing and interplay of their own.

The Quins continued with a workmanlike performance and stayed calm through the game taking tags when needed and keeping the ball alive in open play. Finley Robinson was next on the score sheet as he confused defenders with ball in two hands looking both ways for space before taking the simple route forward to get to the line. From the tap off Matthew Stirling again led by example closing down defenders and tagging the opposition making them retreat.

Ioan James twice showed his pace and cut through the defence to take tries after a solid build up to from the team which on occasions was patient and clinical. Next to get on the score sheet to the delight of the visiting supporters was Elliw Williams who crossed for her first try since joining the club. Rhys Evans got the last score of the game with a well worked passing move that saw him spot a gap and ghost through to the line leaving defenders in his wake. The player of the match selected by the opposition Coach was Macs Hastings who’s four try haul and all round good game made it well deserved.
