Continuity

Quins took on Fall Bay who to their credit didn’t give up throughout the whole game after having played directly before against the hosts Loughor but excellent defending and tagging from the Quins served them well as they kept their opponents pinned back in their area of the field which left less distance to the try line in attack although it was not easy given the determination of their opponents.

Captain Matthew Stirling again won the toss and opted to start the game and it wasn’t long before Ioan James showed a clean pair of heels outstripping the defence for his first of the game.  Rhys Evans was next on the scoresheet as his attack complemented his organisation of the defensive line as he used the touch line to cross in the corner.

A special mention must go to Jack Harris who covered every blade of the pitch hunting down the opposition and taking their tags to help turnover the ball and get the Quins back on the attack. The squad knows that tagging is just as important as the try scoring and Kian Williams saw to it that he gave everything he possibly could chasing down defenders to get the tags.

Koby Jones was next to get over the whitewash as he danced around defenders in mid field before spotting a gap pinning his ears back and leaving the defenders in his wake to get over for his score. The final try of the game went to the ever present Finley Kelly who after some patient build up took route one through a sea of defenders to cross for a well deserved try.

The player of the match for this game as selected by the opposition coach was Elliw Williams who in addition to some tremendous tagging including a spell of four tags in a row got over the white wash twice.

There is no official game on the forthcoming Easter weekend but the squad are looking to their half time cameo role at Parc Y Scarlets when the Scarlets take on La Rochelle in the Quarter Final of the Champions Cup. With a sell-out crowd it will be special evening for the players.

The Quins would like to thank Well Drilling, the New Stags Head, the Blue Boar and Mike and Sue Evans for their continued support of this young side. With the Qunis Under 12’s and 13’s through to their respective finals, the Ladies Under 18s top of their league and the Senior Side second in the Welsh Premiership the development of the club looks to be in for a bright future and with the club running teams for many age groups there is always time for new faces to join and contact details can be found on the Quins Website.

Finally the players and parents of the Quins Under 8’s would like to congratulate Osian Knott and Jac Price who have recently been selected to play for Wales Under 18s and as both have come through the mini and junior system of Carmarthen Quins and are current Youth team players it is hoped that some of this crop of Under 8s will follow in their footsteps.
