Carmarthen Quins under 11's captained by Gulliver welcomed Builth Wells to their home ground this weekend. Builth started strongly with a quick turnover and direct running scoring in the opening minutes of the game. By the time the away team scored their second consecutive try the young Quins realised that the game ahead would be a tough, physical encounter.
The Quins utilised the strength and skill of the boys on the bench to change the direction of play. This helped the Quins gain back territory and possession providing space for Elis T, Jesse and Elis P to break through the line, ending the first half 14 all. During the second half of the game Lona, Owain D, Cai and Owain H put their bodies on the line whilst defending and attacking, making it difficult for the opposition to gain territory.
In the final minutes of the game with the Quins behind by seven points it was all to play for. It was then that Steffan R's quick reaction to release the ball to supporting team member Gruff, who then used all his strength to cross the line to score the final try of the game. Elis P had to then kick under pressure to convert and secure a 28 all draw.
Men of the match were Gruff (forwards) and Elis P (backs).
