Under 8’s Gain Successes All Round

The Quins Under 8’s have brought the curtain down on their normal season ending with great success at two local festivals. On 29th April the squad travelled to St Clears for their Annual festival and were pitted in a group with Fishguard, Carmarthen Athletic, Narberth and Tenby Utd.

In every game the Quins players gave their all and their endeavours were rewarded as they ended the four games unbeaten with two victories against Carmarthen Athletic and Teny Utd which complemented two draws against well drilled Narberth and Fishguard.

On the Bank Holiday Sunday in glorious conditions a smaller squad of players entered the Amman Utd festival where the Quins under 8s of previous years have been highly successful but this year the team took it up a notch.

Playing teams from Amman Utd, Whitchurch, Ystalyfera, Ystradgynlais, Tycroes and Brynamman the Quins squad blasted through the competition and were the only side with 100% win record at the end something that was applauded by all along with the style of play in boiling hot conditions.

The squad has knitted themselves together so that everyone understands the style of play and can slot in when required and are a real credit to the club of Carmarthen Quins.

Whilst this was the last action of the regular season in a few weeks  the squad will be back in action as they have agreed to take part in the Welsh Rugby Union’s Season Restructure Pilot which will see mini festivals played on four weekends with a view to understanding whether a permanent move to rugby between April and October would benefit Mini and Junior Rugby. The first of the festivals is due to be held on 1st June.

With the end of tag rugby for the group on the horizon there is always a welcome for new players who would like  to join this successful band of players as we move into contact from September onwards. Contact details are held on this website and the groups Facebook Page. Players are welcome to come along and meet the squad during one of the training sessions ahead of the forthcoming festivals where the Coaches will help them enjoy the experience with a view that they will like to join the squad going forward.

The benefits of playing rugby are almost limitless as it helps children develop as individuals but also as part of a team which gives them a great start in life and they learn new skills.

More information will be published in due course but anyone thinking of bringing their child along please contact any one of the Team Manageers or Coaches who will happily talk you through any queries you may have.
